How it happened
Kaltura, founded in Israel in 2006 by Ron Yekutiel, Michal Tsur, Shay David and Eran Etam, sells video software to universities, companies and media groups and is based in New York. Goldman Sachs invested $50M in 2016 without a disclosed valuation.
A spring 2021 plan to list at $2B was abandoned for lack of demand, Globes reported. Kaltura instead went public on Nasdaq on July 21, 2021 at $10 a share, a valuation of $1.24B. The shares slid as the pandemic boom in online video faded, and the market value fell below $1B in November 2021.
Kaltura cut about 10% of its staff in 2022 and 11% more in January 2023. Yekutiel remains chief executive, and in April 2026 the company bought PathFactory for $22M.
