How it happened

Noname Security, founded in 2020, built an enterprise platform to discover and protect managed and unmanaged APIs. A $135M round in December 2021 made it an API-security unicorn at a $1B valuation.

As security-startup funding cooled, Akamai agreed to acquire Noname in May 2024 for about $450M, closing in June — less than half its last private price.
