How it happened

Unqork, founded in New York in 2017 by former MetLife CIO Gary Hoberman, sells a no-code platform that banks, insurers and city governments use to build complex software without writing code.

After a $131M Series B led by CapitalG, it raised a $207M Series C led by funds managed by BlackRock in October 2020 at a valuation of about $2B. The company has not announced a down round, but BlackRock's marks fell steeply from 2022.

Mutual-fund filings show BlackRock's technology trusts valued their Series C shares at $5.94 in June 2026, about 78% below the split-adjusted $27.38 they carried when the round closed. Hoberman still runs the company, which launched an AI tool for building applications, UnqorkAI, in 2026.
