From the inside Β· Glassdoor reviews, 2021–24
Glassdoor's thin English-language record on WeMakePrice points one way: six employees posting between 2021 and 2024, from merchandisers to engineers, described strategy that changed too fast to follow and no long-term plan behind it; the last, months into the receivership, described a company already fading.

How it happened

WeMakePrice (μœ„λ©”ν”„) was one of the three daily-deal sites, with Coupang and Tmon, behind Korea's Groupon-era social-commerce boom. Huh Min, who had sold Dungeon & Fighter studio Neople to Nexon for KRW 385B in 2008, funded it via Wonder Holdings and opened the site in October 2010.

Nexon's holding company NXC put in KRW 100B (~$85M) in August 2015 at a reported KRW 1T (~$0.85B); in 2019 Nexon Korea invested KRW 350B in Wonder Holdings, which passed KRW 250B down alongside KRW 120B from IMM Investment β€” a KRW 370B (~$310M) round the Korea Times said priced the company at KRW 2.5T (~$2.1B).

The valuation never had profits under it: operating losses ran KRW 75.8B in 2019 and KRW 33.9B in 2021, the accumulated deficit hit KRW 600B and equity was wiped out as Coupang and Naver took the market.

In April 2023 Wonder Holdings, NXC and IMM sold out to Ku Young-bae's Qoo10 in an undisclosed share swap that left Wonder Holdings with 18% of Qoo10. Fifteen months later the group ran out of cash: WeMakePrice stopped paying sellers in July 2024, Tmon followed, and on July 29 both filed for receivership.

Unpaid settlements across both platforms reached KRW 1.3T (~$980M) owed to 48,000 vendors; in December prosecutors indicted the group's chairman and WeMakePrice's CEO on fraud and embezzlement charges, which they deny; the trial was still at the hearing stage in August 2026.

Tmon went to Oasis for KRW 11.6B in June 2025; WeMakePrice drew no buyer, and with KRW 446.2B of liabilities against KRW 48.6B of assets the Seoul Bankruptcy Court ended rehabilitation on September 9, 2025 and declared it bankrupt on November 10.

Some 108,000 creditors owed about KRW 600B expect nothing back; the trademarks and domains sold at their ninth auction in April 2026 for KRW 5.68M, under $4,000.
