How it happened

DispatchHealth, founded in Denver in 2013 by Mark Prather and Kevin Riddleberger, sent medical teams to treat urgent and acute conditions in patients' homes. A $200M Series D led by Tiger Global in March 2021 valued it at $1.7B.

High staffing and logistics costs forced retrenchment: it merged with Medically Home in 2025, then cut staff and pulled back across about ten metros that September. Its mutual-fund backer Adams Street marked the holding down sharply in SEC filings, from about $1,538 a share in September 2025 to $356 by March 2026 and near $50 by that June, a drop of roughly 97 percent consistent with a distressed recapitalization.

Glassdoor reviews described strained operations and patient-care pressure, poor communication and layoffs, with ratings among the lowest in this group by 2024 and 2025.
