How it happened
FanDuel was a U.S. daily fantasy sports operator that reached unicorn status in July 2015 at about a $1.19B valuation. Regulatory pressure on daily fantasy and a blocked merger with rival DraftKings weakened its standing, and in 2018 it merged with Paddy Power Betfair's U.S. business in a deal that valued FanDuel well below $1B (~$470M).
