How it happened

Loft was a Brazilian proptech building an online marketplace for buying and selling homes, valued around $2.9B at its 2021 peak. As global venture funding tightened and Latin American real-estate activity slowed, the company cut staff and faced financial distress. A subsequent down round materially reduced its valuation, dropping it out of unicorn territory.
