How it happened
MoneyLion is a US consumer fintech offering banking, lending, and financial-marketplace products, valued near $2.9B after a 2021 SPAC merger. Its stock fell sharply below $1B amid post-SPAC repricing, though the business later recovered operationally. In 2025 Gen Digital agreed to acquire MoneyLion, ending its independent run after it had spent years below its peak valuation. Glassdoor reviews from the post-SPAC years, mostly from Kuala Lumpur engineers, praised the tech culture but described a two-tier US-Malaysia structure with work steadily shifting to the lower-cost KL office, and recurring layoffs β roughly every year or two β that US staff linked to offshoring, amid frequent shifts in strategy and priorities.
