Superpedestrian, an MIT spinout, operated the LINK shared e-scooter service and developed onboard safety and geofencing technology, and was loosely valued near ~$1B around 2021 (unicorn status soft). Amid a broader micromobility downturn and difficulty raising capital, it shut down its US operations and wound down in 2023.
