How it happened

JOKR launched as an ultra-fast grocery delivery service and hit a $1.2B valuation in December 2021. As ten-minute-delivery economics unraveled, it exited the US, Europe, Colombia and Chile to focus on Brazil under the Daki brand, and a September 2023 down-round cut its valuation to $800M — back below unicorn status. Glassdoor reviews from the retreat years read surprisingly warm: ex-staff praised their teams even while describing the market withdrawals, constantly shifting plans and general disorganization — and several former employees concluded on their own that instant delivery simply never penciled out.
