How it happened
Outreach, founded in 2011 by Manny Medina, Gordon Hempton, Wes Hather, and Andrew Kinzer, is the developer of a B2B sales engagement platform designed to manage all prospect and customer interactions across email, voice and social. Last valued near $4.44B (Series G, 2021); it has since fallen out of the $1B unicorn club and remains private. Glassdoor reviews from the 2023–24 stretch chart the retrenchment from inside: employees counted four layoff rounds in a single year, described sales strategy and leadership churning every few quarters, merit raises frozen, most reps missing quota, and support and engineering work shifting steadily offshore — though reviews warmed noticeably as the restructuring settled into 2025.
