How it happened
Spire Global operates a constellation of small satellites collecting weather, maritime and aviation data. It went public via SPAC in August 2021 at roughly a $1.6B valuation. Post-SPAC, its stock declined heavily amid cash concerns and the space-sector slump, dropping its market cap below $1B and to ~$0.3B by 2026, a ~81% decline from peak. Glassdoor reviews from those years describe high turnover as the share price fell: engineers praised the technology but said equity-heavy pay packages had lost much of their value, cost-cutting and layoffs accompanied the push toward profitability, and a return-to-office mandate β which employees said management blamed for weak results β further strained morale.
