How it happened
Clark is a Frankfurt-based digital insurance broker, founded in 2015 to move Germany's paper-bound policy market onto a phone. It joined the unicorn ranks in November 2021, when a roughly €100M package built around the Allianz X deal for lead-generation business finanzen Group valued it at about €1B and made it one of Europe's largest insurtechs. Manager Magazin reported in May 2026 that investors had since marked the holding down to €613M — below the billion-euro line — citing declining revenue, widening losses, debt pressure and a legal dispute. The company remains privately held and operating across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
